DEATH DURING AFTER BURIAL
The corpse is placed into its grave and it must be big so that it can accommodate the coffin and various other assets owned by the dead to show the dead status while alive and be known to others in the other world. Today, this practice is diminishing as there are many cases of grave digging reported. Only money simulated papers are used to avoid grave digging by those unresponsible.
To the Chinese, the strategic location of a grave is important to signify happiness to be experienced by the dead person. A highly located cemetery from the ground is better than on a flat land. Most cemeteries are located by the roadside. According to the belief, this type of area makes it easier for the dead person soul to identify the way home.
Besides, the tombstone is decorated beautifully whether in terms of the carving, colour or shape. The carving signifies the dead person wealth while alive, while a big tombstone with attractive shape denotes luxury. This means the dead person is eligible to enjoy luxury after death like while still living. Hence, it is not surprising the Chinese prepare a big and luxurious tombstone for their dead families.
Family members undergo a mourning custom after a death. Black clothings are worn for days until the end of the mourning period then only clothing of other colours can be worn. However, a widow or widower can wear black clothing for a longer period to signify mourning.
