Apam Johol is said to have originated from Johol in Negeri Sembilan as there are many food entrepreneurs and makers live in this area. This traditional cake is also known as Apam Daun Rambai (Rambai Steamed Cake) as it is wrapped in the rambai (a type of fruit) leaves. There are also many other varieties such as Apam Putih (Steamed White Cake), Apam Berkuah (Steamed Cake With Gravy), Apam Pelangi (Steamed Rainbow Cake), and Apam Polkadot (Steamed Polka Dot Cake).
This cake is normally made of rice flour, yeast, coconut milk and sugar that made it fluffy, soft and not too sweet. The cake is eaten with sambal gravy, rendang, pea porridge, meat gravy and durian gravy.
